It is a wonderful novel of a family at the time of the 2010 election, in Stoke-on-Trent: I found it easy-to-read, feisty, funny, truthful, with 3 dimensional people in it; and just HAD to ask if I could publish it
Read Stuart Maconie, Niall Griffiths, and Luke Wright endorsements on the link above
Lisa will be at Hot Air Festival, Stoke-on-Trent; and Latitude Festival and is about to start a writer in residency at Shrewsbury Museum and is running a writing course while there
Andrew Fusek Peters‘ name is already known by many – as a children’s poet and novelist – and most recently as author of DIP – a book about wild swimming and depression.
I have been lucky enough to have met him soon after he picked a camera up – and as he started to photograph the wildlife and wonders in Shropshire and beyond.
The structure of this book has morphed as we’ve gone along – but has, in my mind, found its way into a wonderful meld of joy and technical details!
With Tim Keates living off gruel as he worked tirelessly on its graphic design. This has been signed off with the printers. Andrew, Tim and I will first set eyes on it in March sometime, and its publication date is 22nd April 2016
Emma Purshouse‘s children’s poems, and Catherine Pascall Moore‘s illustrations were born to belong together
Here is the story of how I once knew a poem who wore a hat has come into being –
First, Fair Acre Press and Emma invited five artists to create the cover for I Once Knew A Poem Who Wore A Hat – but as we knew them all personally, and already loved all their work, I decided to ask Fair Acre Press’ rep to decide which artist to ask to illustrate the book. Cath was chosen.
Then we ran into financial difficulties temporarily (finding the money to publish for a small press is a constant issue!) and I decided to launch a kickstarter campaign. Thankfully there are some extremely thoughtful and generous people in the world… and so the three of us are now at the point of working hard on the final touches – with a meeting planned on Monday and a hope the book will get to the printers around the 7th March.
The book’s publication date is 28th April 2016
Emma will be in the children’s marquee of Wenlock Poetry Festival, and at Manchester Children’s Book Festival.
Meanwhile the four Maligned Species ebooks are in the Bookshop at £2.99 – with monies donated to four ecology organisations with every sale.
That’s it for now ! Nadia x www.fairacrepress.co.uk
