Urban Birds/DIVERSIFLY submissions are now closed

DEADLINE for participating in URBAN BIRDS project by submitting poetry and artwork on everyday encounters with the birds of Britain’s towns and cities has now closed.

Soon I will be looking at all the submissions from poets and visual artists. I cant wait as I haven’t seen any of them yet!!

Then starts the hard task of choosing which poems and artworks work best together for the book.
I will not be able to be in touch for a couple of months about whether/ which of your submissions will be included in the book – but HUGE THANKS to everyone who has been interested, read the blogs or taken part in this project!!! It is wonderful knowing I’m not reaching out to empty space and of course will strengthen future participatory ACE funding applications for other projects we already are thinking about, as well as make a book that people will really enjoy.

I am already sorry and sad that I won’t be able to include everybody’s work – and would like to reiterate that when it comes to editing – the book becomes king – and often I have found in the past I have had to leave out work that I really love for the sake of the book’s overall cohesiveness – so please don’t be put off in your creating if, this time, the answer turns out to be a ‘no’. x

The book will be out in January 2018 and will be called DIVERSIFLY – and will include commissioned new work from some exciting and well known poets and visual artists.

As will some really interesting podcasts – free to listen to and permanently available on the Fair Acre Press website – with 6 wonderful nature poets and an Urban Bird expert
Huge thanks to the Arts Council England for their support with this project – which could not have happened without their support through public funding
