Tom Wentworth is a playwright. Recent theatre credits include: Heart of Hearts (Graeae Theatre Company’s Write To Play) and Windy Old Fossils (Pentabus.) He is also an audio producer including, It Takes Two To Lie (Afternoon Drama, BBC Radio 4) and is producing the Maligned Species podcast. As an occasional poet his work has appeared in publications including Shropshire Butterflies: A Poetic and Artistic Guide To The Butterflies of Shropshire and Acumen Literary Journal.

Tom Wentworth says:

The Maligned Species project poses such an exciting challenge for me. I am a playwright masquerading as a poet (I write poems occasionally and purely for my own pleasure!) which means that this really will be a voyage of discovery – not only into my own poetic voice and what I can achieve within the form but also about the four Maligned Species themselves. I am eagerly looking forward to researching each one and seeing what sparks a new poem (or I hope several.) I have no expectations of the project, except that I would like to write the best poem I can and learn from the experience and wisdom of the more experienced poets around me. This is one of the biggest joys of the project (plus – lucky me am producing the podcast so get to hear lots of hints and tips from the group before they go online for your listening pleasure!) I can’t wait to get started.

Thanks Tom Bryson ! Grey Squirrels do look remarkably cute… just before they eat all our pears and chew their way through the Salvia !
